Got another rejection letter. I think they send them on Wednesdays on purpose.
Anyway so this one was from a school where one of my thesis advisor's competitors works. Think that had anything to do with it???

First, so sorry about the rejections. It sounds like you're hanging in there though. I shudder when I remember my recent job search, so I'm hoping good days with tons of interview requests are on the way.
Second, you are completely freaking me out about the first year = fine, second year = hell theory. Really?! I'm going to bask in the next 8 months and prepare for the worst next year then (while I cross my fingers and hope your rule doesn't apply to me).
